Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

If you plan on visiting a park, we ask that you do the following:

1) Only come by yourself or with the people you live with. No meet-ups or play-dates.

2) Stay at least 6 feet away from others.

3) Avoid crowded areas. If the park you are visiting is busy either come back at a different time or visit another park.

4) Bathrooms, playgrounds, and shelters are closed so please plan accordingly.

Your cooperation is needed so that we can continue to keep our parks open and safe.

1)Spring athletics are cancelled. Staff will contact everyone who is signed up and will offer to either change the enrollment to a fall sport or a give a refund.

2)All other scheduled activities and events will be suspended through the rest of the school year. Persons currently enrolled in an upcoming activity will be contacted about rescheduling or refunding.

3)Due to the suspension of all activities, the Essig Center will remain closed. Staff will contact all persons with reservations and will offer to reschedule or give a refund.

4)Medical transportations for Senior Services is suspended at this time. If you or a senior you know has needs please have them contact 211 or our office at 483-9293.

5)Parks will remain open but all playgrounds and bathrooms will be closed. Trash collection has also stopped so please pack out all your waste. Reservations for shelters through the rest of the school year will be rescheduled or given a refund.

6)The Franklin County Parks and Recreation Administration office will remain open, however we request that you contact us by phone (540 483-9293) or by email ( to avoid community spread.

On a positive note, we will continue offering quality recreational services. We have some exciting new activities in the works that will be fun for the whole family while keeping you a safe distance from others. Our parks are still open and busier than ever. We just ask that you keep a distance of at least 6 feet from others. We are closely monitoring this situation and will continue to post updates on this as they develop.
